Gray, a renowned game reviewer, is known for his unfiltered and humorous takes on video games. With a knack for finding the quirkiest games, he decided to step into game development, aiming to create something completely out of the ordinary. His idea? A game that combines absurdity, humor, and puzzles to create a unique experience.
In each level, players are tasked with figuring out how to extract strange, misplaced items from inside cartoon-style animals. Using a set of physics-driven tools — including suction machines, grabbers, and more — players must interact with the environment and solve the puzzle with creativity and precision.
The primary goal was to create a ridiculously funny game that would capture the attention of a broad audience, from teenagers to individuals in their mid-30s. The game had to be puzzling, highly engaging, and absurd, tapping into the power of humor and "stupidity" as a core element of creativity.
Animal Debt Disaster introduced a physics-based approach where every tool interaction follows real-world physics, adding depth and unpredictability. This design requires players to think creatively, making each puzzle unique and challenging.
The game's puzzles allow for multiple solutions — from precise, strategic actions to chaotic, accidental successes. This approach ensures replayability, as players find new ways to solve puzzles and share the funniest moments.
Creating a game that's both absurdly funny and compelling to play was a challenge. The humor had to be natural and engaging without detracting from the gameplay experience, striking the perfect balance between fun and functionality.
Utilizing Unity for smooth game development and 2d Platforms for character design and animations allowed us to create high-quality animations and interactive gameplay.
The design focused on making each level enjoyable and replayable, keeping players laughing while engaging with the game's absurd storyline.
With the use of PlayFab, we ensured that the game's back-end was stable and scalable, supporting a growing player base without compromising performance.
